You can decide how many lessons you would like to study (but please note: if you need a visa to enter the UK, you must study at least 20 lessons per week).

Flexible enrolments – you can start any Monday and you can decide how many weeks you want to study.

Minimum age: 16.

Who is the course for?

This course is for people who need a short, very intensive course or who need to focus on one area of English such as business English or almost anything else (for example we recently ran a course for a Swiss football manager).

How many hours per week?

5 – 30 hours. Please note: if you need a visa to enter the UK, you must study at least 20 lessons per week (15 hours).
Every lesson is 45 minutes

How can I be sure I learn what I need?

We will send you a detailed needs analysis to check what you want English for and what your strengths and weaknesses are. Areas covered include:

Your level
Your learning style
The four skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing •
Pronunciation and grammar
Topics and vocabulary •
Business topics (e.g. human resources, finance, production) •
Business communication skills: (e.g. negotiating, giving presentations, report writing)

Can beginners have Individual Tuition?

Yes – anybody from beginner to advanced.

What teaching methods do you use?

It depends on what you need to learn, but as a general rule, we use Communicative Language Teaching – you learn to use your English by using your English. There is a strong focus on speaking and listening, and you will spend a lot of time working together with your classmates. We also integrate grammar and vocabulary work with practice in the four skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing.

Will I have a coursebook?

Probably not, unless there is a coursebook that exactly matches your needs. (You won’t have to pay extra for it.)

Can I prepare for exams with Individual Tuition?

Yes. You can take IELTS and the Cambridge exams in Eastbourne, and you can take TOEIC in Brighton (40 minutes by train) and TOEFL in London (90 minutes).

Do I get a certificate?

Yes, provided you attend 80% or more of your lessons. You will get a certificate that says when you studied here and what level your English is now, plus a report from your teacher.

Typical Timetable

Mornings: Four lessons every morning Monday – Friday 09:00 – 12:45.

Afternoons: Two lessons every afternoon Monday – Thursday or Friday 13:45 – 15:30.

All lessons are 45 minutes. Some students have 20 General English course lessons in the mornings and Individual Tuition in the afternoon.
